Databody
This work explores the unstable, temporal nature of the image as a digital object. Digital images morph and migrate across varying formats, hardwares, carriers and digital architecture. Advancements and changes in these relationships result in hardware and software digital obsolesce. Louise Whelan photographs and imagines the unknown. Making reference to the Data body, she has located the portrait image in the fragile system it is created in. The work reimagines memory for the digital age. By responding to the uncertainty of the digital object, she has created an imperfect kind of beauty within a digital waste aesthetic.
