Laura Perritt's work considers how contemporary society demands an amalgamation of the public and private self in the presentation of identity. Compositionally, this has been achieved through an exploration of botany, relating to the artist's identity in both geographic and gendered terms, as well as through the inclusion of small fragmented self-portraits in each print. This series becomes a meditation on the history of womens art and the clich of the floral, as well as an exploration of the native Australian botany that resonates for Laura personally.
